Hottest Wedding Trends for 2017

He asked, and you said yes! The date is set, and you’re now ready to start planning for your big day. Although you may have been taking mental notes and making preliminary wedding plans for months or even years, some of those ideas may be old hat by now. Wedding trends change from season to season and year to year. What was hot last year may be completely out of fashion now. Consider incorporating some of these latest trends for a wedding that will wow your guests, be uniquely yours, and provide happy memories for years to come.

The Dress
The wedding dress is the focal point of your ceremony. Elegance and glamour are in. Metallics are big this year. Think gold threading or silver beading combined with a breezy silhouette for a truly elegant and magical look. Off the shoulder styles, high necks, and floral embellishments with touches of tulle and organza are also in fashion this season.

The Cake
Corresponding with the metallics in bridalwear, cakes are taking on a whole new look this year, as well. Everything from geodes embedded in the cake to crystal monograms on top, the cakes are meant to sparkle and be a centerpiece of your reception. Pairing this with another popular trend, translucent or drip cakes, your cake will be a masterpiece as unique and lovely as the bride!

The Food
Perhaps you want to offer another sweet in addition to your cake. Ice cream is all the rage this wedding season. Consider taking the donut trend of seasons past and combining it with ice cream for a new take on an ice cream sandwich! Or, stay in fashion with the popular food station trend, and have a sundae bar. Either way, ice cream is always cool!

Carry the station trend over into your dinner, as well. The idea of a formal, sit down dinner is out. Moveable feasts are in, from a variety of food stations with fun presentations to food trucks with a variety of interesting offerings. Your guests will have a more personal experience, and everyone can find something for their pallette.

The Decor
Going green is big this year. Consider bringing natural elements into your theme, whether this includes an outdoor ceremony, or bringing the outside indoors. Think potted trees, hanging flowers, and rock and stone accents with pops of color. Or consider a moveable flower wall that can be the backdrop for your ceremony, as well as a decorative accent at the reception. Add a swing with live flowers adorning the ropes, and you’ve provided a great setting for photo ops.

Brides are also into using locally sourced food and flowers, using recycled paper for everything from the invitations to place cards, and donating the flowers to nursing home or hospitals after the wedding.

The Entertainment
Think interactive. Entertainment no longer refers to a wedding singer or a DJ. Couples are using everything from choirs and aerialists to acrobats or ballerinas as accompaniment. If this is a bit much for you, consider using more traditional music options, but pair it with another interesting choice. For example, have a silent DJ. The guests don headphones and get their groove on while the rest of the crowd can enjoy conversation in a quiet setting.

Other ideas include having a portrait studio with a photographer, illustrator, or sketch artist. Instead of the overdone photo booth, guests interact with live artists for a hipper take on traditional photos.

Offer games to get non-dancing or shy guests involved. Croquet and mad libs are fun options to get them mingling and break the ice when meeting new people. They also can get to know each other while preparing their personalized goody bags at your gift lounge. This could be at the reception, but many brides and grooms are locating them at the hotel where guests are staying. Set up a gift station and fill it with snacks, drinks, and local treats. Guests can mingle while filling their bags with their preferred treats. As an added bonus, if you do it at the hotel, you and your partner can be there to greet them!

Make It Yours
Regardless of what trends you choose and how you intertwine them with classic traditions, make your wedding day uniquely yours. As a symbol of the start of your married life together, fill it with special touches to create wonderful memories to last a lifetime.

Bachelorette Party: Yoga Retreat!

Just as every bride wants her wedding to be unique and special to her distinct taste, her bachelorette party should be a reflection of her personality. Instead of doing the same old routine party, why not try doing something original? Why not consider a yoga retreat? Instead of coming home exhausted and hung over, the bride and her guests will return home refreshed, rejuvenated, and feeling wonderful!

If the bride-to-be is known to be a wellness and/ or yoga aficionado (whether well versed or just beginning, or even a wannabe, for that matter), there is a yoga retreat that can work for her. The possibilities are countless and can range from simplistic to indulgent with gourmet meals and exquisite wine pairings.

Start with the basics. Would she prefer the mountains or the ocean? Are five star accommodations or minimalist surroundings more her style? Will she want simply yoga sessions or an entire wellness spa? Once you have narrowed down what you think she would enjoy, there are a couple of items that need to be taken into consideration for her and her guests. You will need to do some research to find the perfect yoga retreat that suits her best.

First and foremost, consider the budget. Remember the bride and the entire bridal party are already committed to some expenses for the wedding. The bachelorette party needs to be reasonable based on the financial situations of the party members. Obviously, more exotic locations will most likely include airfare, whereas retreats within driving distance will be more affordable for most brides. Find out about what kind of packages are available and how many yoga sessions are included, as well as what dining options are available. While some brides may be satisfied with simple, healthy meals and lemon water, others will want fine dining and adult beverages more aligned with some of the traditional bachelorette party offerings. Inquire about any specials the resort may have or if they have an all-inclusive package available. When overall expenses are taken into consideration, the all-inclusive route is generally the most cost-effective option and provides the bride the most bang-for-the-buck while still providing high quality service.

Including Your Beloved Dog In Your Big Day

Kids, cats and dogs! They have been the cuteness factor for many decades with pictures and videos of them exploding all over the internet, especially on social media platforms. When beginning a journey into wedded bliss, there are some couples who might not have children of their own as of yet, but they may want to share this union with their four-legged best friend that’s already a part of their family in a way that includes them during this blessed event.

Your beloved, furry companion, whether they’re a small breed like a cute little purse puppy, or an enormous animal like a Great Dane, they can still be a part of this important day, even if they’re not present for the actual event itself. For example, while many animal lovers train their dog to be a ring bearer, walking down the aisle carrying the traditional symbol of your love (in a non-traditional way), this isn’t the only possible way they can participate.

Paws The Moment

As a general rule, if a soon-to-be married couple are animal lovers, so are their friends and family, so it’s only natural to include these members of our kin when organizing this event. Think outside the marriage box and remember these cuddly critters from the get-go. Invitations can include pictures of you as a couple along with your pet with cute slogans like “Paws For The Day,” instead of the more traditional “Save The Day” that we’re all accustomed to seeing.

Roles Made Of Honor

Even if your pooch won’t be carrying the rings, (which is entirely possible given some training) that doesn’t mean they can’t walk down the aisle with you and your betrothed during the ceremony if that’s what you want. These cuddly critters could also be included in other responsibilities like:

●Accompanying the flower carrier and/or ring bearer during their walk down the aisle
●Bearing a sign that gives them the title of “The Dog Of Honor”
●An honorary usher that might not be the best at picking seats and accompanying guests but will still shine as ...
●The host or hostess with the mostess greeting guests at the door
●Partaking in the picture taking process with the rest of the wedding party

Having your canine as a part of your wedding party means whatever you want it to be, whether they’re waiting in the shadows or a big part of the event itself, it’s always your choice.
