It is safe to say that wedding day is one of the biggest days in everyone’s life. Oftentimes, it is a combination of stress, happiness, joy, and responsibility all rolled into one. Given the level of importance this day is associated with, there is no wonder why we all want it to be perfect and seamless for everyone involved. But while it is relatively simple to organize adults and make sure they feel comfortable, things are a little bit more complicated with kids. Their behavior is usually unpredictable, their mood changes every 15 minutes, and it’s hardly possible for them to stay calm and sit still for a couple of hours in a row.
But what if you’re marrying with kids and want to make sure they feel happy and comfortable during the ceremony and after? It turns out, the best solution out there is to incorporate them into the ceremony and make them feel responsible for something. Can’t think of any role for your kids to play? Keep reading to find out some tried and true ideas. Ask Your Kid to Be a Bridesmaid or a Groomsmen Children love to feel their value and importance, which is why it is a great idea to ask them to be a part of your wedding ceremony. If it seems strange for you to have such a young bridesmaid or grossman, think of it for a moment. Nobody said only adults can be a part of a bridal party, so why not trying? Of course, it might be hard for them to explain all the ins and outs of their role if they are under the age of 7, but it is still worth a try. With such an important role to play, they won’t lark about or get bored. Let Your Kids Prepare a Performance The vast majority of kids like the idea of performing. Especially, when there are so many people around and everyone listens to them and looks at them. Ask your kids to prepare some kind of performance as a gift for you and all the guests. Chances are good, this will make the entire wedding day more interesting and important for them. However, make sure that your kids are ready for being on a stage. Although studies suggest that we should sometimes force kids to perform even if they don’t feel like doing it (it helps their bodies learn how to manage stress), keep it reasonable. Ask them to walk you down the aisle Of course, there is a tradition according to which it is bride’s father who walks her down the aisle. However, it is your wedding and your rules. If you are already a parent yourself, it makes way more sense to ask your kid or kids to walk you to the altar. Don’t you agree it would make the ceremony even more emotional and meaningful? Ask your kids to do this for you and you’ll be glad that you did. After all, you should remember that it is one of the biggest stresses for kids to see their mom getting married. For the Finals. Think out of the box and don’t be afraid to choose a risky thing over a sure one. If you already have kids at the moment of your wedding, it is the most reasonable thing to do to ask them to be a part of this big day. Help them feel valued, loved, and needed. There is nothing better you can do as a parent. XOXO Suzanne's Bridal Boutique - Guest Blogger: Naomi Shaw |
