Bailey & Andrew McBurnett's Wedding

Bailey McBurnett, is one of our Real Suzanne's Bridal Boutique brides, and we just adore her! Her and her husband, Andrew, have a love story straight out of a movie! They had one of the most dreamy beach weddings we have ever seen. We are excited to have Bailey share their love story, and wedding herself with us on the blog today.

"Andrew and I met when we were freshman in high school. Two years later we went on our first date, and after that first date Andrew told me a year later that when he got back in his truck after dropping me off he said out loud "I have found the next Mrs. McBurnett"! We dated for the rest of high school and in my Senior year Andrew had just graduated the spring before and was going to be going to college 2 hours away. We decided to try long distance. We made it work for 3 long years of lots of driving and phone calls. It was so hard but so very worth it."

"8 months later with lots of wedding planning we had our beautiful beach wedding on a cliff in La Jolla, California. It was always a dream of mine and Andrew to get married on the beach. It was a warm sunny day filled with our closest family and friends. We had a simple reception to follow at a restaurant that overlooked the entire La Jolla cove.
After the reception Andrew and I headed back down to the beach to take some sunset photos. We posed on the cliffs and walked along the sand just enjoying every moment. The waves were calm and the sunset was incredible."

"About halfway through our shoot we were standing near the waters edge, when all of a sudden a giant wave came to the shore pulling on my dress and taking me down to the sand. I could not believe it. The whole bottom half of my dress was soaked and the ends of my hair were drenched. I knew that there was a chance of me getting a little wet and sandy but I did not see this coming."

"After that brief moment of shock, we laughed and decided to have fun with it now! We went deeper into the water, laid in the sand, and had a much more fun time than if the incident never would of happened. Over all the whole wedding was the wedding of our dreams and we wouldn't of changed a single thing!”

Don't we have the most beautiful brides?! I love how sweet and easy going this couple is. What a great way to make the most out of a situation when they got soaked by the waves rolling in! Those photos came out so adorable too! What a fun memory! Thank you Bailey, for sharing your sweet story and wedding with us! Wedding Dress Makeover with Suzanne's Bridal Boutique

We are so excited to about today’s blog post because we are sharing a Wedding Dress Makeover story with you all from our Suzanne's Bridal Boutique bride herself! Finding your dress is not only exciting (like really exciting), but it can also be overwhelming. You try on dress after dress and you like the top half of the bodice on one dress, but the bottom half of another. You find yourself redesigning the dress you have on, and if only you could change this or that about it, then it would be your perfect dress. Our owner, Suzanne, has been working with brides to make their dream wedding dresses become a reality for over 40 years now!

This is the story of our beautiful bride, Chelsea, who found a wedding gown that had the potential to become her dream dress, with some creativity and help from Suzanne.

“I remember going into Suzanne’s before they moved, greeted by the sweetest young girls! I immediately felt at home! Although I went to other shops, Suzanne’s was the first and last place I went to find my dream dress! I went in to try in on a total of four times before I bought it.

I was so worried about my vision coming true in this dress that one of the girls walked me to the back of the store where Suzanne was tucked away sewing other dresses and let me ask her opinion!

She immediately told me, 'No problem, we can make that happen for you'. I immediately felt at ease and put my deposit down on the dress! Each appointment Suzanne and all of her girls were so cute and sweet! They were all so personable and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!”

“My dress turned out amazing!!! On the night of my wedding, my new husband couldn’t take his eyes off of me and I got more compliments on that dress than I could have ever imagined! I’ve even had girls inquiring about my dress before I took it back to Suzanne’s to have it cleaned!!

Even after all the big and little things I had done to this dress I spent a total of $400 on alterations. Perfect price, perfect dress, perfect experience and I LOVED that this was a one stop shop!!!”

6 Tips You Should Know For a Sample Sale

You might be wondering, "Are sample sales really worth it?" and the answer is, "YES". We want to make things simple for you by breaking it down into 6 tips you should know for a sample sale. By the end of this post, you should know if you want to buy your wedding dress from a sample sale, and how to come prepared.

What is a sample sale?

A Sample Sale is when a bridal boutique is selling their wedding gowns off the rack- meaning, the gowns the brides normally just try on while choosing their dress. With these sales, you get a huge discount, and can leave with dress in hand that same day. So if you are a bride who loves finding great deals, is on a budget, or need a dress fast- then a Sample Sale is PERFECT for you!

6 Tips You Should Know For a Sample Sale:

1. Do your research
Look online to find what designers you like, style, and silhouette you were picturing for yourself on your wedding day. This will help you come prepared ready to buy because these dresses go fast!

2. Bring your BFF
Choose somebody or a few loved ones who will make this experience fun, and also provide you with honest, and loving support when choosing your dress. We don’t recommend bringing too big of a group, because all of the differing opinions can make choosing a dress more stressful.

3. Go Nude
No, it’s not what you think! Wear nude undergarment and a strapless bra so you can envision how you will look on your wedding day. You don’t want any distractions that might keep you from seeing the big picture.

4. "OMG, Shoes."
Bring the shoes you are planning on wearing, so you can try them on with the gown to make sure the hem is long enough. Remember; it can always be shortened, but not lengthened.

5. Ready to buy
When you go to a sample sale, you have to know that these dresses don’t last long! These huge discounts attract a lot of brides looking to save some momey. The amount of dresses, sizes, styles, and designers are limited, so be ready to pay in full that same day.

6. Inspect the gown
Since these are the dresses that the boutique has had brides try on for most of the year, inspect the gown! Do not fret if you find a frayed lace or a loose button, those can be easily fixed at your alteration appointments.
